Brass Pointe BBQ restaurant for sale after fire

The owners of the popular Brass Pointe BBQ restaurant plan to retire and will not reopen following a kitchen fire about three months ago.

That’s according to a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

The restaurant at 24234 Orchard Lake Road in Farmington Hills and its recipes are for sale, the post said.

A brother and sister and their spouses ran the restaurant for close to 40 years, the post said.

“We appreciate all of your kind words and memories being shared,” the owners said on Facebook.

Earlier, when they announced their retirement, they said: “Our first and foremost gratitude goes to our staff, our Brass Pointe family. Without them, success wouldn’t have been possible.”

They said the time off after the fire allowed them to be with their family, something they want to continue despite their great memories and love of the community.

“We are enjoying retired life and taking time to spend with our family and grandchildren,” they posted. “And weekends off, what a treat.”

Farmington Hills Fire Chief Jon Unruh said an investigation determined the April 29 blaze was an accidental cooking fire.

About 60 people were safely evacuated when the kitchen fire broke out at about 6:45 p.m., during the restaurant’s dinner rush.

The busy restaurant was evacuated in an orderly manner and no one was injured, Unruh said.
